COME DISCOVER YOUR TALENT!

The Rock Teen Center inspires teens (12-20) to grow through music, dance and art. We provide vocational training in sound and recording, lighting and staging, video production, as well as a computer lab and a cool, supervised facility for the teens to engage with their peers. In a time where public schools are cutting funding for empowering programs like music, dance and art, The Rock cultivates a love of the arts to inspire and challenge teens to embrace artistic excellence and reach their full potential.

At The Rock, teens discover a safe place to express their emotions through the art of dance. Dance instruction is an ideal outlet for young people with signs of low self-esteem and stress. These are teens that may never have the opportunity to take dance lessons elsewhere, but appreciate an outlet to dance, make new friends and enjoy improved physical fitness along with the fun.

At Spanky’s Recording Studio we teach the art and science of audio recording to interested teens, complete with a Toft ATB 32 mixing console as well as a 32 input Pro Tools HD recording system. Classes include hands on recording lessons with industry professionals.   The students learn audio fundamentals from microphone selection and placement, to audio signal flow, to mixing console operation, as well as the ins and outs and function of the industry standard Pro Tools recording software. Engineer Mike Bolenbach presents a very fun and hands on approach to learning how to navigate the studio and make good sounding recordings. The principles learned at Spanky’s will have real world applications for teens interested in pursuing audio in any capacity.
