Genesis Covenant Church and Alice Coopers Solid Rock Foundation are currently searching for a Community Center Director (CCD) who will give leadership, oversight and program development to it’s exciting and innovative missional partnership to be known as The Rock at 32nd Street.
The Rock is a community center located in northeast Phoenix just off SR 51 and Thunderbird road. The partnership’s heart and vision has always been to move in to a space that is first and foremost a building that the community can call it’s own. The vision has been to use this space as a missional outpost designed to offer programming for all generations. It is the hope and prayer of the partnership that the center will be staffed throughout the week with exceptional relational evangelists who express the love of God through serving the needs of any and all who come through the doors of The Rock.
The CCD’s initial task will be to be the vision implementer and program developer through assessing the needs of the community, developing human resources and creating a successful launch as we open our doors.
The CCD will create systems and infrastructure that successfully build a platform through which The Rock can move through it’s planned phases of growth. This position will give oversight and development of grant writing, fundraising, marketing, public relations, budget management and customer development.
Some of the programming that we are planning for are the following:
-music and arts training for teenagers-dance classes for teenagers
-exercise classes for adults
-unemployment counseling and training
-uninsured medical care
-”third space” cafe
-concert venue
-rental space for community groups, receptions, business meetings, weddings
Business aptitudes:
-Proven Fundraising ability
-Has directed non-profit entities well
-successful marketing campaigns and public relations experience
-Project management experience (launching new business/ministry)
-Strategic planning from vision to implementation
-Budget management and oversight of $100,000 or more
-Ability to form strategic partnerships with community, corporate and non-profit entities
Ministry aptitudes:
-Executive pastor skills that encompass leadership development and growth
-Leadership training for staff and volunteers
-Volunteer recruitment and training
-Review and design ministry processes where necessary
-Staff training and management
-Leading and developing teams
Responsibilities for the first 6 months, to be readjusted after successful launch of The Rock @ 32nd Street
Program development: 60%
-Assess community needs to determine what programs The Rock @ 32nd Street should launch and determine timeline for future programming.
-Create system for human resources assessment, training and fit for various programs offered.
-Develop relationships with local schools, business, churches and other non-profits for collaboration and partnerships.
-Assess local community needs and begin marketing efforts to secure rental contracts for facility use.
Community Center oversight: 25%
-Develop facility use philosophy with existing staff and leaders that honors the mission and vision of Genesis Church.
-Create and implement system that allows for efficient scheduling for Center activities.
-Implement safety and security measures and insure adherence to them.
-Technology
Staff oversight: 15%
-Surface gifted and called people to give leadership to various program needs
-Create positive team environment where paid and volunteer staff thrive together
-Provide inspiring and enthusiastic leadership to team as it develops
This position will require a dynamic, energized, visionary leader who works well within a team environment and go move rapidly between ministry and business models. The CCD will report directly to the Lead Pastor, and will develop a management team or board for counsel and support.
Requirements: Bachelor’s degree AND two years of non-profit, and/or administration and coordination experience; OR, six years of progressively responsible experience in non-profit work and/or administration and coordination; OR, any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education.
